PDSHEART Offers First Web-Enabled Holter System; Cardiac Test Data and Results Transmitted Via the Internet
May 31, 2001

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001 via NewsEdge Corporation -

PDSHEART, the leading provider of cardiac monitoring services and medical diagnostic devices, is offering the first, fully web-enabled Holter cardiac monitoring system, which insures enhanced data accuracy and timely test results delivery, often resulting in life-saving interventions.

The WebHolter(TM) system uses a smaller, lighter cardiac monitor for patient comfort. Test data is recorded digitally on a flashcard in the monitor, and transmitted via the system's Netlink computer, which can transfer 24 hours worth of data in three minutes, versus the conventional, analog Holter's 2-to-3-hour lead time, due to shipping. The Netlink computer is installed in physicians' offices at no cost, and physicians also have the option of reviewing portions of the data prior to transmission. The accelerated transmission process enables PDSHEART's Certified Cardiac Technicians (CCTs) to turn around a typical study in six hours. Emergency (STAT) studies are available within an hour. Test results are available via the Internet on a secured site or by standard file transfer protocol, e-mail or via fax, at the physician's discretion.

"We are very excited about being able to offer this enhanced technology, and the expert technical support that the customer deserves," said Sean Heyniger, president of PDSHEART. "Not only is the data more accurate and processed more quickly, but also the WebHolter(TM) has the capacity for a 12-lead ECG recordings, which enables physicians to identify the location, and determine the severity, of ischemia, an important product feature and a critical diagnostic tool."

Additionally, the WebHolter(TM) can provide real time, three-channel analysis of pacemaker functions. Using the Holter for Windows(R) Pacemaker Analysis software, the system can detect and automatically store such events as Pacer Non-Sensing, Pacer Non-Capture and Pacer Inhibition for further analysis.

For physicians reluctant to give up their analog Holters, the Netlink computer has an optional taper converter that insures data is not lost during digital conversion. The WebHolter(TM) system then transmits and processes the data using its standard protocol, providing for the fast test results turnaround and Internet accessibility that characterizes the WebHolter(TM) system, even when the source monitor is a conventional Holter.
