April 17, 2001

STOCKBRIDGE, GA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 2001 via NewsEdge Corporation -

PDSHEART, the leading provider of state-of-the-art medical diagnostic testing and devices, today announced the acquisition of Rythmark, a cardiac event monitoring company based in Delaware. The move gives PDSHEART access to new markets in the Northeast while consolidating its leadership position in telemedicine services.

Last month, PDSHEART acquired the telemedicine division of HeartAlert, enhancing its Event and Holter monitor product lines. Event and Holter data can be transmitted via a standard telephone line, insuring fast turnaround for test results. In acquiring Rythmark, PDSHEART solidifies its telemedicine expertise, particularly in the clinical trial and managed care markets where Rythmark was a dominant player. Terms of the agreement have not been released.

"We are thrilled with the market access and clinical expertise this acquisition gives us," said Sean Heyniger, PDSHEART's president. "It also makes us the most comprehensive supplier and service provider in the emerging cardiac telemedicine industry. As cardiac telemedicine itself is not limited by geography, we feel this acquisition positions us as truly national service providers."

PDSHEART is the leading provider of comprehensive cardiac telemedicine services for cardiovascular disease and hard to diagnose arrhythmias. It is the first telephonic service provider to market an Automatic Triggering Event Recorder, a device that has already been credited with saving many lives. PDSHEART is also the creator of WebHolter.com, product which enables physicians to access Holter test results via the Internet. About PDSHEART
